Fidelity Mechanical Services recently completed energy-saving HVAC upgrades for the FEMA National Emergency Training Center in Emittsburg, MD including two dormitories and a common area lounge. With over 200 individual fan coil units, this project is recognized as the largest Daikin brand water-cooled geothermal Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system on the East coast.

Furthermore, Fidelity installed high-efficiency Heat Harvester geothermal water-to-water heat pumps that provide up to 3,500 gallons of domestic hot water and storage for the three facilities. The geothermal water-to-water heat pump systems deliver the required amount of hot water with extremely low operating cost, all while reducing the facilities’ carbon footprint.

The FEMA mechanical upgrade was an exceptionally challenging project because the historic 1920’s facility remained occupied and there were only six months to complete the project. Through “critical path” planning and execution, Fidelity Mechanical Services completed the project on-time and on-budget, with minimal interruptions.
