Fidelity was founded in 1945 as a single-source mechanical engineering and contracting firm that introduced air conditioning to a new
 marketplace.

This transformed building services, and we’ve been on the leading edge ever since.

1945

Fidelity Engineering was founded by Clarence Hottel Sr. as a Full-Service Commercial/ Industrial Design-Build Mechanical Contractor serving the Baltimore, MD and metropolitan market.

1975

Fidelity became a regional leader in providing turn-key data center construction specializing in temperature & humidity control, precision power, fire protection and emergency/back up power.

1980

Fidelity was named the exclusive Distributor and Service Provider for Kohler Generators in Maryland and Delaware. The Power Systems Group was formed as a division of Fidelity Engineering.

1985

Fidelity wins Kohler Generator’s Industrial Distributor of the Year Award.

1997

The Power Systems Group expanded their exclusive Kohler Generator territory to all of Virginia. A Fidelity sales and service office was opened in Richmond. VA.

1998

Fidelity purchases a 53,000 sq. ft. building in Sparks, MD (Hunt Valley area) which becomes their Headquarters Building.

2001

The Mechanical Services Group expands into Northern VA.

2004

The Power Systems Group wins Kohler’s Residential Distributor of the Year Award.

2006

Fidelity begins their acquisition/operation plan through strategic partnerships and acquisitions.

2006

Central Tech Services, a company specializing in central plant chillers and overhauls, enters into partnership with Fidelity.

2007

Eneractive Solutions, an energy consulting and project implementation company, is formed as a joint venture headquartered in NJ and serving the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast commercial/Industrial energy markets.

2007

Fidelity rebrands two operating groups, forming Fidelity Mechanical Services and Fidelity Power Systems companies.

2010

Fidelity Mechanical Services opens a Beltsville, MD service and sales office to cover the Washington, DC market.

2011

Benchmark Automation and Controls, a TAC/Schneider VAR, is formed to bring an intense focus on systems integration. (Originally part of Fidelity Mechanical Services)

2012

Westridge Energy, an energy monitoring company, was purchased by Fidelity and subsequently integrated into Eneractive Solutions.

2012

Dave Lanphar appointed CEO (previously President), Carmine Mistichelli, appointed President-Fidelity Mechanical Services (Previously Vice President) and Jim Slechta appointed President-Fidelity Power Systems (previously Vice President).

2015

Eneractive Solutions purchased by Edison Energy, a division of Edison International.

2016

Fidelity Power Systems wins the Kohler Industrial Distributor of the Year Award.

2017

Martin J. Braun Mechanical Contractors, a leader in specialized government contracting, was purchased by Fidelity.

2017

HVAC Concepts, a Honeywell-Tridium and Distech Systems Integrator with a state-of-the-art digital monitoring center, was purchased by Fidelity.

2018

HVAC Concepts digital monitoring center becomes the evening/weekend call center for all Fidelity’s service companies.

2018

Fidelity’s Executive Team is expanded - Carmine Mistichelli is appointed Chief Operating Officer of Mechanical Services and Building Automation business units, and two new partners join the team: Mike Roppolo, Chief Corporate Development Officer and Guy Barron, Chief Human Resources Officer.

2019

Fidelity Engineering (parent company) begins their 75th year by rebranding with a more inclusive name; Fidelity Building Services Group.

2019

Star Service, Inc. (Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA, Mobile, AL and Jackson, MS), a premier leader in HVAC maintenance, service and retrofit, was purchased by Fidelity, significantly expanding Fidelity’s footprint into the Southeast and Southwest markets.
