Michael Schmitz

Michael Schmitz co-leads Smart Building Technologies (Smart BT) and is a Partner at Fidelity Building Services Group (Fidelity). As one of the founders of Smart BT, Mike has spent over a decade building the company into an industry leader in building automation.

Mike has 30 years of industry experience with multiple generations and types of controls. In his leadership role at Smart Building Technologies, Mike provides oversight of day-to-day operations and administrative management of the company.

In 2020, Smart BT joined the Fidelity national portfolio of companies, a partnership that builds on Mike’s vision for the organization to continue serving as the leader in building automation services throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

Mike graduated from Towson University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and earned his Commission as a 2LT, Infantry from the Loyola College ROTC program. He has holds various technical certifications from Distech Controls, Computrols, Cylon Auto-Matrix as well as other providers of building automation technology.
