BALTIMORE, MD (October 24, 2019) – Fidelity Building Services Group (Fidelity BSG), a leader in HVAC/Mechanical Services, Building Automation & Controls, Emergency Power Generation and related services, announces today the addition of John Dorn to the Fidelity BSG team as the President of its Power Systems Business Unit, Fidelity Power Systems.
A 25-year veteran of the Building Systems industry, Dorn’s role as President of Fidelity Power Systems includes leading and growing its exclusive distributorship of KOHLER® emergency generators and power systems throughout Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. and parts of West Virginia. Dorn also oversees product education and specifications within the engineering community, equipment sales, factory-authorized service, exclusive KOHLER® parts and generator rentals. Dorn leads a team of nearly 160 team members and reports directly to Dave Lanphar, CEO, Fidelity Building Services Group.
Prior to joining Fidelity, Dorn spent his career with TRANE, INC., where he most recently served as Vice President and General Manager of the organization’s Maryland-Pennsylvania district. Under his leadership, Dorn’s district was recognized for top tier TRANE District performance in North America in 2015 and 2017 and achieved Customer Satisfaction Index continually above the company average in service and contracting. Dorn takes the place of former president Jim Slechta, who is set to retire later this year and has been a part of the Fidelity Power Systems family for nearly 40 years. Recognized as one of the top generator experts in the industry, Slechta joined Fidelity in 1982 as a generator salesman and quickly moved up the ranks, managing for more than 10 years what was then Fidelity’s Power Systems Division. As the industry expanded and larger generators were developed, Slechta was instrumental in the company’s growth and in ensuring its place at the pinnacle of sales and service. Under his leadership, Fidelity Power Systems is now one of the largest KOHLER® Generator distributors in the United States, as well as the #1 ranked and largest U.S. KOHLER® Generator Service Company.
